Local Infrastructure Hub Kickoff Session for Mayors

During our kickoff session, Mike Bloomberg, former Mayor of New York City, and founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies, spoke about how the Local Infrastructure Hub will help cities create infrastructure programs that transform communities. White House Infrastructure Coordinator and former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu spoke on themes across IIJA programs, including Justice40 and Made in America, and how cities should be prioritizing programs that relate to their communities’ needs.

Janette Sadik-Khan, Principal, Bloomberg Associates and former Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation presented strategies for crafting impactful applications for the Safe Streets and Roads for All program (SS4A) with leading examples from cities. Columbus, OH Mayor Andrew Ginther laid out the Hub’s priority BIL federal programs and calendar of supports. The session included a robust discussion among mayors on how they are approaching this historic opportunity and specifically how they are tailoring applications for the SS4A program.
